Eurist (European Institute for Sustainable Transport) is a non-governmental Organisation, promoting policies, that improve the environmental, social and economic sustainability of transport an mobility around the world. Eurist is based in Hamburg (Germany) and is working with an extensive network of national and international partners.
Matthias Nuessgen has been cooperating with the "European Institute for sustainable Transport" since 2011.
The first contact was made at the 2011 Velo-city Congress in Seville when Eurist CEO was invited by Matthias in order to hold a talk. From 2013 on Matthias was a regular in-house expert and is now the Vice Executive Director of the organisation.
With Eurist Matthias has developed all the African and European activities on ropeways, the educational branch of the organisation, called Eurist Campus and ,all the related capacity building activities, like a lecture series on cycling cities, or the urban transport weeks held two times in the year 2015 in cooperation with the University of technology Hamburg Harburg (TUHH) and funded by the german environmental agency UBA. Matthias cooperated in the overall organisation and was responsible for the management of the internet appearance and for the organisation of the first module "Metropolitan Accesibility". Apart from this he appeared as a lecturer on urban development and transport.
